Our Mission

Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries, Inc. is a non-profit privately administered corporation dedicated to conserving the natural resources of The Town of Falmouth, Massachusetts.

Our Challenge

The challenge for Salt Pond is to increase our membership base in order to do more to preserve, protect and purchase the beautiful land within the Town of Falmouth, on Cape Cod.

Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries, Inc. Annual Report 2010

DEAR MEMBERS AND FRIENDS:

As you read through this year’s annual report, you will note many of Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries Inc.’s achievements. Last year our organization completed significant maintenance work on the buildings at Peach Tree Farm and Bourne Farm. We have new kiosks for two of our properties with trail maps. Landscaping and maintaining the trails and paths continues during the growing season at Bourne Farm, Salt Pond, Marshlands and the Knob, to ensure your enjoyment of these parcels. We have established an adult lecture series for the community and we continue to offer a nature program for children.

Through the Dr. Donald Zinn Scholarship fund, Salt Pond awards scholarships to Falmouth Public Schools and Falmouth Academy science fair winners. We can not emphasize enough to our membership the long term commitment to land preservation that we have and that this commitment and hard work have resulted in the success of our organization and preservation of 227 acres of land. Salt Pond Areas Bird Sanctuaries, Inc. has been incorporated since 1962, making the non-profit one of the oldest nature conservancies on the Cape. In 2012, we will be celebrating our 50th Anniversary of preserving the natural, the beautiful and the traditional in the town of Falmouth.

Your generous donations and membership dues are relied upon a great deal by us and deeply appreciated. A visit to one of our properties, such as Bourne Farm, Salt Pond,
Peach Tree Farm or the Knob will show how well your donation dollars are utilized. The poor economy affects all of us and your renewed membership or new membership is vital to the daily operation of the organization and the work to maintain and care for these beautiful properties and open-space. We thank you for your commitment, enthusiasm
and good will.

Sincerely,
Francesca Parkinson

Membership Chairman
